Pulse Logistics and it’s Kansas City Warehousing Operation

There is a common theme associated with Pulse Logistic’s umbrella of services; they all have the potential to be interwoven with one another. Cross-docking leads to asset-based deliveries that are either local or regional. The relationships we have built with our trucking customers can lead to more cross-docking opportunities as well. Now, like we talked about in the last post, cross docking is not meant for long-term storage. It is utilized for short turnarounds only and is charged by a simple one-time fee. But what happens if a customer wants to bring us freight and leave it at our facilities for an extended amount of time? The requested service is no longer in the realm of cross-docking; it has now turned into a warehousing opportunity, which is another service we offer. Because of this need, we have developed a premier Kansas City Warehousing operation.

Why do shippers need warehouses?

There are plenty of reasons why shippers need warehousing and it is all dependent on how they plan during their manufacturing process. Based off their forecasting projections, all shippers need to keep some type of inventory surplus on hand, so they are never trailing the demand of their customers. COVID19 has exploited that need even more with its initial burst of mass hysteria. The whole nation saw a temporary shortage of toilet paper, which means shippers exhausted their inventory surplus. That is an extreme example of why a surplus is mandatory but all shipper’s face variations in their demand due to external sources that arise year over year.

You can see why developing a warehouse was a natural progression for our company. We have hundreds of good relationships with shippers around Kansas City and all of them have the potential to be a warehouse client. They all manufacture and ship goods, therefore they all need storage at one point or another. Also, since we are a trucking company, we usually get the opportunity to move most of the freight in our warehouse.

Now that you have a little background as to why our customers need warehousing and why we offer warehousing services, let’s discuss our actual operation. Our warehouse is located at the Carefree Industrial Park, which is a subsurface industrial space. The whole park is underground, and the setup resembles one-massive cave with trailing roadways slithering through the interconnected complex.

Inside look at a part of our facility.

Here is a box truck outside the opening to one of the cave entrances. I know those look like bats, but unfortunately, they are just birds (bats would be more fitting).

About our Warehousing Operation

The Carefree Industrial park has great highway access, which is ideal for our trucking operation. Since we handle everything from pulling orders, loading the truck, and delivering the freight, we get to dictate the speed and efficiency at which we operate. This is a huge selling point for us when we are obtaining new customers; this is 100% our process and we do it at a high level. Our warehouse team is incredible and we’ve maintained long-term relationships with a majority of our customers. As stated above, the warehouse also maintains ambient temperatures between 68° to 70° year round, which is vital for inventory that cannot be exposed to extreme heat or extreme cold.
